I have a Macbook Pro running osx Mavericks and Windows 8. I have downloaded the installer file for osx El Capitan and want to upgrade to it. However, seeing a few threads like:

How can I make my bootcamp partition bootable again after upgrading to El Capitan?

I'm skeptical whether Windows will work after the upgrade or will I need to re-install it. Can any expert who has tried this help me out?

I think I made my first Bootcamp partition on perhaps Snow Leopard10.6 .. which has since been updated to 10.7,8,9,10 & 11 & now even migrated to another machine - & still works. Windows itself was XP, upgraded eventually to Win7. I'm not saying it's impossible to break things, but for most people they don't; & if they do, that's what we have backups for ;) – Tetsujin Dec 24 '15 at 14:44
