Are any available? Most of the available feed readers are bordering on ancient, with only Liferea and RSS Owl really "contenders" that I know of, but neither of them have it.

Couldn't find anything native, the closest I could come across was ReadAir, an Adobe AIR based feed reader which syncs with Google Reader.

Actually, it appears that Liferea has it, as of 1.6 at least. It's a bit hidden. You have to add it as a "New Source". The window that pops up has it listed, though you'll likely have to scroll to get it. Currently, folders are not synchronized, but it seems that most everything else is. Read more at the Liferea blog.

Well that blog post is dated May 2008. But, it does seem to indicate that sync works. Gotta try this. Thanks! (+1 ) – Sathya Feb 4 '10 at 17:56
Liferea's deal breaker for me is that it stores your Google Account password in the open :( – Alexey Romanov Aug 29 '10 at 14:20

If you come up with a better answer, let me know. best I found was using Google Gears and Firefox for Google reader, but now Firefox doesn't work with Gears, at least in the current Ubuntu versions, and Chrome does not support Gears (it will be going with html5 storage, someday).

Suckage. Part of me thinks that something simple and an off line browser proxy the way to go, or wget.... sigh.

Liferea. I've been using it for 4 months and it's perfect. Before that, I used the Sage++ extension in Firefox, but Sage doesn't integrate with Google, AFAIK.
