Hello,

I'm looking for the software (preferably free/open source) that helps to maintain a list of jobs with their full description, determine dependencies, add all sorts of support details (perhaps attach documents), notification details, script details - server, host, SAs , etc.

If you have any ideas please point me to the right direction.

Thanks

Thanks for your answers. Actually I'm looking for something different. I need this tool to manage large amount of dependent tasks which starting by scripts using Control-M. This tasks had been created by different people and all docs now in a couple of wikis and confluences, tasks in JIRA. I'm going to structure all this tasks in one place where I should have task description and rich documentation. Also I want to see dependency tree, because it became impossible to find out the structure using JIRA style. I believe this clarifications gives you a little bit clear picture. dotProject is free and open-source. It looks like an MS Project replacement.

Features include: (from their blurb)

  • User Management
  • Email based trouble Ticket System, (Integrated voxel.net's ticketsmith)
  • Client/Company Management
  • Project listings
  • Hierarchical Task List
  • File Repository
  • Contact List
  • Calendar
  • Discussion Forum
  • Resource Based Permissions

It might be overkill, but a decent help desk ticketing system should cover most of your requirements. I would recommend Request Tracker, the initial setup may be tricky but it's worth it once it's up and running.

Here are some of RT's features so you can see if it's suitable:

  • RT is your organization's focal point for tracking tasks, issues, knowledge, and collaboration.
  • It's easy to submit, assign, prioritize, search, escalate, and report on issues.
  • RT keeps track of each ticket's full history and metadata to help your organization better retain knowledge and analyze trends.
  • RT can track multiple projects for multiple teams within a single installation.
  • RT tracks critical system metadata, including time spent per action, due dates, and estimated time to completion.
  • It's easy to record private comments that are not available to end-users.
  • RT's web interface comes complete with an intuitive "iterative" search interface that allows end users to construct complex queries by pointing and clicking within their web browsers
