Can any recommend a good comic book reader (for the .cbr format)? I am currently using ComicRack but it is Windows only and it seems heavy (not sure how it will run well on a netbook).

Looking for Windows (64-bit) based reader that can synch with an iPhone.

Also are there any hardware reader devices that support the cbr format?

Edit: For more information on the CBR format check out the Wikipedia entry.

Edit: Just bought an iPhone instead of the netbook route so I have updated the question to include the iPhone requirements instead of linux on a netbook.

Why do Comic books have their own format? Why didn't they use PDF? – OscarRyz Jul 22 '09 at 0:03

CBR is just a rar file containing images. There's one or more CBx filetype depending on the compression used. – Yoann Le Touche Jul 22 '09 at 9:12
might make sense to have seperate threads for the same question for netbooks and the iphone. For the sake of future use ;) – Journeyman Geek Sep 14 '09 at 0:06

I've been using ComicZeal: http://www.bitolithic.com/ComicZeal/comiczeal.htm

It's a paid for app, but it's a fairly decent reader.

I've actually found ComicRack to be quite lightweight - it's running on an old (circa 2005) 1.6 GHz Celeron Acer Tablet with 512MB RAM. It's brilliant in that form factor too - I can use the tablet as a slate, the face buttons flip pages, and it's basically a very convenient (if a little heavy - hey, it is old!) book.

So I think it'll run just fine on any modern netbook.

I know that this is not what you're looking for (Windows only) but it is the best one I've ever used: Cdisplay

You can download it here:http://www.downloadsource.net/18912/CDisplay-Comic-Reader/
