Where is Linux going ?
I can't find anything about Linux 2.8 nor Linux 3.0.
Is there any plan for the future of the Linux kernel ?

According to this, there probably won't be a 3.0.

Linux 3.0.0-rc1 has just been tagged. Have a look at the news post Say hallo to Linux 3.0 at Phoronix or the 2011-05-30 Git tag message from Linus Torvalds.

As chris mentions, there probably won't be a Linux 3.0.x series. This is mainly due to the core kernel code maturing to the point that major code changes are no longer necessary.

For a near-term kernel roadmap, see the Linux Foundation's Linux Weather Forecast. I think this is as official as you can get without combing through the Linux Kernel Mailing List archives.

At the moment, the highlights include the 2.6.32 release highlights, and changes expected in the next kernel release (2.6.33).
