i think this should be a plugin in the IDE you are using, for example visual studio has something called ring clipboard, but if you are trying to find a standalone software for this you should ask this on superuser.com, i think you will find there better answers for this question. – Amr ElGarhy Feb 8 '10 at 1:08

Ditto is a rather useful and free clipboard manager which I have been using lately .

Ditto is the best – ta.speot.is Mar 22 '10 at 6:51
I wish Ditto or ArsClip, which are very full featured, would include a Cycle hotkey. – surfasb Oct 12 '11 at 14:09

Clipx for Windows - FREE and this is pretty good too.

There are multiple ones for Mac, One of the free apps for Mac that I liked is JumpCut. I installed it only few days back and am liking it.

I love ClipX since it helps me: 1) Create permanent clips, 2) Manage (edit/remove) the clips. What is not good: can not assign hot key using [Windows] key – Nam G. VU Oct 6 '10 at 9:49

CuteClips 3 or Butler's Pasteboard (http://www.manytricks.com/butler/) would solve the problem.

(Can't put second link. Don't have reputation on SU yet. Sorry!)

ClipMate is really good. I tried all the free ones before deciding it was worth paying for something this good.

Are you on Windows? I've been using CLCL for several years now. It's simple, but supports plugins for manipulating clipboard contents.

It seems to slow down a lot with openoffice apps. One bug is that uniciode text gets "normalised" to latin when it's no longer the top entry. Strange, given that the author is Japanese!

Arsclip is powerful. Standard features like permanent items, configurable hotkeys etc.

Also allows you to insert variables like date/time, and define series of keystrokes etc for simple macros. One useful feature I've not seen elsewhere is the ability to define different sets of permanent items to be active depending what program you're in.

The most configurable clip manager I've used - though a bit heavier on resources than CLCL or Ditto

If you want Visual Studio's clipboard ring in other windows applications check out a tool I wrote, ClipCycler:
