That's my question: How can I change the subtitles font size in VLC Media Player? I try with Preferences > Video > Subtitles/OSD, but I can't find an option to change the font characteristics.

In Linux the option is clearly visible.

I've just updated my version and see that screen. Now it works, but I need to write the Font path manually, "Browse" don't keep the selection. – JuanZe Feb 13 '10 at 20:42

Set "show settings" to Full, then go to Video > Subtitles/OSD > Text renderer - there you can change the font size in pixels.

Found this: http://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/vlc/2004-March/007768.html which basically says you can't.

DVD subtitles are recirded[sic] as images, not text. That makes it very difficult to resize it, and vlc doesn't handle it.

Regular subtitles held in a separate text file are loaded as text. These are adjustable, but I don't have a copy of VLC available to check how. – Iain Feb 10 '10 at 9:49
