I'm trying to download a video embed in a blogger post e.g. http://buzz.blogger.com/2007/08/3-2-1-action.html

Is there an application, website, bookmarklet or browser extension making this possible?

Edit: I'd prefer a solution that works on Firefox/Windows

Edit: That said a web based and platform independent solution similar to keepvid.com would be ideal.

What is your browser and platform ? – Studer Feb 14 '10 at 17:31
I provide you a solution that works fine but you are unable to read the installation procedure correctly. That's said, it works fine for me! – r0ca Feb 21 '10 at 17:17

downloadhelper is a firefox add-on that adds menu items to download video files from flash videos.

At first downloadhelper did not show the video for download, but once I pushed the play button I got the option to download the video file in the downloadhelper menu.

It works. A small downside is that it adds a button to the browser toolbar and two options to the browser context menu (visible even when there's no video on the page) These can be disabled in the preferences. – Alexandre Jasmin Feb 23 '10 at 5:04

I think that Video Downloadhelp & Orbit downloader are the better solutions but you don't seems to accept neither one nor the other so here's another one:

It's an HTTP stream, so if you find the URL, any browser or download manager will do the trick.

URLSnooper could help you, it's a program written to help users locate the urls of audio and video files so that they can be recorded.

Launch it, reload your page, and find the link to the flv file, to copy it in your browser.

Works pretty well. However the default media URL filter didn't catch the .flv file. I had to display all URLs and observe which one gets loaded when I play the video. – Alexandre Jasmin Feb 23 '10 at 5:26

I suggest to try Orbit

This apps works fine with Blogger and other streaming website.

Why does it ask to open a port on my firewall? – Alexandre Jasmin Feb 14 '10 at 18:42
Did you uncheck to make an exception in Windows firewall when installing? It's not supposed to prompt it to you if you enabled that feature. – r0ca Feb 14 '10 at 18:59
But why does it need to listen on a port in the first place? – Alexandre Jasmin Feb 14 '10 at 19:06

I'll accept this answer for now since I was able to download the video. I'd really prefer a better option though. Orbit is supposed to be a complete download manager solution. It exposes a port to allegedly enable p2p acceleration. The installer also wants to trick me into installing some unrelated Security Software. Too much bloat for my needs and I don't like random software accepting connections from the internet. – Alexandre Jasmin Feb 15 '10 at 0:09

Hope you did not upvote that question for the lack of reading and misunderstanding. But, it works fine for me so I thought it would be good for you. – r0ca Feb 15 '10 at 1:14

Another Firefox addon:

Flash Video Resources Downloader - Download videos from Youtube, Google Video, Dailymotion & all the rest of the popular (and many less known) online flash video sites of all kinds.

I'm unable to make this work in Firefox 3.6 – Alexandre Jasmin Feb 23 '10 at 4:06
