Possible Duplicate:
What’s the best Remote Desktop Application?

I am looking for easy to remote assistance software. I want to be able to help my father use his computer. He lives in the mid-west, I am in California. I am looking for remote assistance software that is very easy to install and start using. This will be windows 7 to windows 7 or Mac OS X to Windows 7.

I want to be able to control his desktop and have him see what I am doing, then pass control back to him, but still be able to see what he is doing.

I am sure other people have done this, so what do you recommend? What has worked well for you?

@John. You've been answering this question one to many times haven't you? – Diago Feb 18 '10 at 19:14
A simple search for the word 'remote' yields some interesting results. What can I say. – John T Feb 18 '10 at 19:16
I saw many of those links. They mostly refer to remote desktop applications. That is not what I am looking for. I am looking for something similar to copilot. I tried copilot, but it did not work for us. With copilot you can just send a link in email, the user on the other end clicks on it. It installs with no configuration. Installing a remote desktop server or opening firewall access are not options. I guess I did not make my question clear enough, or perhaps there is no better answer. – railmeat Feb 18 '10 at 20:49

Cross Loop is what you want. Simple client download for both parties, ZERO registration, and access to a computer is done via the exchange of a numeric access code, and requires the remote party to accept your connection. Perfect for tech support!

LogMeIn is the simplest and easiest way to establish a connection with minimum setup or hassle.

No routers to configure, no firewalls to setup. Install and it works every time from anywhere.

Same thing, user has to do it. But there is a case where it requires automatic login like day shift/night shift work. – YumYum Dec 31 '11 at 8:30
