Possible Duplicate:
Intelligent file copy/move software ?

I got a new external HDD, copy/paste a 10GB folder from one HDD to the new one, and half way through it has an error copying one file, so the entire transfer stops mid-way.

How can I resume the transfer where it left off; or better yet, what software can you recommend that will offer a "merge" option like Ubuntu does?

TeraCopy is great when it comes to problems like this. Not only does it support resuming of transfers, but it also has error recovery and full Unicode support, not to mention Windows 7 x64 compatibility:

A free version is available for personal use.

You could try Teracopy it allows you to pause and resume. There are also overwrite options.

TerraCopy looks pretty good...

  • Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.

  • Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer.
