Novice question.

I want to stream some videos via a personal website. However I don't want to use any of the commercial hosting sites like veoh, youtube or anything else.

So, the question is : How can I stream any videos online via a web-host?

There are either too many possible answers, or good answers would be too long for this format. Please add details to narrow the answer set or to isolate an issue that can be answered in a few paragraphs. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

If you are using swfs you can use swfobject. If its a video in MP4 or some other format, you can use a embed player in your page like flowplayer or anything similar.

+1 without physical access to a machine / if this is just a bog-standard web host, you are really limited to this sort of thing. – William Hilsum Feb 24 '10 at 23:37

You could use Flash media Server.

Adobe Media Server

Here is a sample

Works well
