I am looking for a (Windows XP) utility (preferably a standalone app) that can let me set a hotkey to adjust the gamma (and hopefully other color settings) of the overlay surface.

ATI Tray Tools does not have the ability to bind the overlay color adjustments to the overlay. I’ve asked him about it and he said it was difficult to implement or something (he was kind of vague). The ATI Catalyst drivers do not have a hotkey function for the overlay tab either.

Can anyone help?

AutoHotKey: autohotkey.com will certainly do the trick, but I can't realy help you more because i don't have an ati card... – fluxtendu Feb 27 '10 at 4:39
Coincidentally, I just downloaded the latest version of AutoHotKey and AutoIt yesterday because the versions that I currently have are a little old. I actually considered AutoHotKey moments after asking here, but my computer was too bogged down to try to check if it can. I’ll check right now, but I suspect that it can only adjust the non-overlay colors. (Either way, the overlay surface is not exclusive to ATI cards, NVidia and others have them too. ;) – Synetech Feb 27 '10 at 15:19
Unfortunately I cannot even test any methods right now because I’m using Windows 7 which doesn’t seem to have an overlay surface at all; seemingly, all videos and graphics are rendered by software(?) If I managed to get my XP installation running on this system, I’ll give it a shot again. – Synetech Mar 6 '11 at 20:30
