Emacs as a Python IDE

Hey, I'm trying to set up Emacs to edit Python on Windows. I'm really new to Emacs and I'm using ropemacs. When Emacs starts up it displays Pymacs loading ropemacs for an excessive amount of time. Any way to cut this down?
