I want it to store business cards as images and to make them searchable (OCR).

I can't recommend, since I don't use it myself, but I heard that the fellows at CardScan pretty much got that market covered - software, dedicated scanners, ... you name it, they got it!

To add to that, I have a friend who scans lots of cards and told me you really only need the cheap model to get the all information. The expensive one just makes the pretty pics in color –  Peter M Mar 2 '10 at 15:21
    
I use CardScan and it works very well. Very accurate. Agree you don't need the "top of line" unit for most things. I also use one from Targus (may be discontinued) when I travel as it is smaller. Works well as well. –  Dave M Mar 2 '10 at 21:18
