I am trying to get started with Linux.

There are number of books (many of which are just man pages), some of them provide good overview so I can dig deeper online then.

What I would like is to find number of screencasts that would cover basics of Linux commands, server administration, commonly performed tasks etc (no GUI, only terminal).

I want to watch the screencasts to "get it quicker" and then use a book or online resources to "dig it deeper".

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Dmitriy.

Totally not a programming question. – raytiley Mar 9 '10 at 0:36

raytiley is right, this should be asked on SuperUser instead of Stack Overflow. – Ben Voigt Mar 9 '10 at 0:38
Agree. Sorry for that. I had to ask at SU. But I don't see how I can accept an answer at the SU when the question is moved from SO. – Dmitriy Nagirnyak Mar 9 '10 at 0:42

I'm going to vote to close this but I found this to be a good book:

Official-Ubuntu-Book

http://www.amazon.com/Official-Ubuntu-Book-Benjamin-Mako/dp/0137136684/ref=dp_ob_title_bk

I think I have the second edition, but it got me up and running quickly. BTW, I don't think linux can be learned from screen casts. Your going to need book*s* and you'll be visting SuperUser.com a lot.
