I came across this command while dabbling in Ubuntu 9.10:

sudo get-apt moo

acer@acer:~$ sudo apt-get moo
         (__)
         (oo)
   /------\/
  / |    ||
 *  /\---/\
    ~~   ~~
...."Have you mooed today?"...

Which most surprisingly "made a MOO". (How unfortunate for the cows). Any reason for such cow references ?

Does anyone else know of funny command line or any other easter eggs in their flavour of Linux (Fedora, Linux Mint, BSD, Slackwire, Mandriva, Solaris, Suse, etc)?

Related is aptitude's moo feature:

and definitely try this one: telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl (have a little patience, it's awesome)

And finally to kill the whole thing of; I found a pretty extensive list on the ubuntu forums.

I totally forgot about cowsay, and I never knew that you could specify alternate "cows". The telnet one isn't actually an easter egg, nor is it linux-specific. You can do it in any OS with any telnet app and internet connection. – TuxRug Jul 17 '10 at 3:20

If you type sl by accident an ASCII train will run across your terminal!

I guess there are entire hoards of cows in Ubuntu (9.10) ....

Press alt+F2, in the Run Application terminal, type gegls from outer space .
