Can a cluster span across multiple tracks, or does it have to remain within one track?

clusters are filesystem concepts; tracks are drive geometry concepts. there's no guarantee that what the filesystem considers a single cluster is actually stored in contiguous blocks on the physical drive. – quack quixote Mar 16 '10 at 10:25
