I like to keep links to my various laptop support pages in my wiki. Dell makes it easy if you know the service tag.

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?ServiceTag={Your Service Tag}

Are there any equivalent urls for HP, IBM, etc where you can just plug in your service tag equivalent and get a page with links to drivers and what not.

superuser is for computer hardware and software related questions only. Websites are outside of the scope as defined by the FAQ (superuser.com/faq). – Josh K Mar 23 '10 at 23:28
@Josh K: Disagree. FAQ provides a guideline. In this case, the web sites directly pertain to manufacturer support of personal computer hardware and software. Knowing where to get support for your computer is on-topic and I vote +1 for this question. – Chris W. Rea Mar 24 '10 at 0:06
@Chris: I don't find your reason valid. This is a question, about a website. It matters not if this is a support website. If I can't find something on support.apple.com I shouldn't post a question saying I can't find this on support.apple.com can you please show me how to find it on support.apple.com. This question is asking for help navigating other websites, in essence outside the scope laid out in the FAQ. For more reading please see my question on meta here: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/43639/… – Josh K Mar 24 '10 at 0:11

this question strikes me as potentially useful to IT folk (moreso than endusers, even superusers). voting to migrate to Server Fault. – quack quixote Mar 24 '10 at 1:20
