We're looking for an e-postage provider that is capable of working with the Mail Merge function in Microsoft Word 2007. Every now and then we extract addresses from our database to mail letters or notices. We use Mail Merge in Word 2007 to print the address information straight to the envelopes and then run all the envelopes through a Pitney Bowes Postage Meter. It would save us a huge step if we could somehow get an e-postage provider where we can just print out the postage straight to the envelopes along with the addresses at the same time. Anyone know of such a provider or a better solution?

Google is your friend... my friend.

Stamps.com offers that capability: How to Add Postage Using Mail Merge in Microsoft Word 2003 and Excel 2003.

As weird as it may sound, i typed "word mail merge postage" into Google search window and hit Enter :)

(answer was provided on Server Fault, but question was incorrectly migrated so I moved it back.)

Quixote,

Stamps.com should be a big help to you as it will allow you to print postage as part of the mail merge.

The link that Jeff provided should work, but you may need to do the following first as you will be using Office 2007:

  1. Within Word, click on the “Mailings” drop-down menu located at the top of the window

  2. Click on the “Start Mail Merge” option located in the “Start Mail Merge” section

  3. On the drop-down select “Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard”

From here, you can follow the instructions found here: Mail Merge Instructions

Please note that you will need to save your Excel file as a 97-2003 file in order for this to work.

If you run into any problems, please feel free to call Stamps.com Support toll-free at 1-888-434-0055, Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Pacific Time.
