What do you want to learn more precisely ? How to use it ? How to program for it ? – Michael B. Apr 23 '10 at 16:08
What do you mean by "learn linux?" It's like saying you want to learn computers. – WhirlWind Apr 23 '10 at 16:09

What worked for me: Install linux on top of windows, then learn how to survive. – Tom Apr 23 '10 at 16:11
Google "linux beginner". – phimuemue Apr 23 '10 at 16:12
@Michael, WhirlWind: To be fair, I can remotely relate to this question. At a job interview, I was asked : "Do you know Linux ?" I answered "What about it?". "You know, Linux." – Tom Apr 23 '10 at 16:13

I hate to answer a question with a question, but ..

What do you normally do with your computer now?

If its browsing, e-mail, chat, VOIP, games, videos and music - grab an Ubuntu livecd and just start playing around. The best way to learn is to just dive in and use it.

If its programming and development, you'll need to be a little more specific.

It's slightly outdated, at least the Slackware specific part. You could also link to the newer beta version. – vtest Jun 14 '11 at 4:56

There are a few pages with some of the basic commands assuming that you have a system. But you should likely refer to the documentation for whichever distro you use. I personally learned a lot working with freeBSD as they have a very good set of documentation that was easily transfered over to linux.
