Open source CRMs

Question

I'm looking for an easy and extensible open source CRM solution, on top of which additional functionality can be developed. It should support:

• a web GUI & multiple user
• lead & customer management (including workflow to manage tasks performs with leads, workflow for transformation into an customer)
• plugin support is important, i.e. for easy import of customer data
• should ran on Linux
• ease of use is far better then 1000's of features

I looked into SplendidCRM (monthly fees or MS based) respective SugarCRM (overloaded with features) and hope that you can recommend something smaller/more effective, yet extensible.

You may want to have a look at Drupal and it's associated CiviCRM module (and maybe CRM). Note that I have experience with Drupal, and it is a very stable and ever-improving web-based content management system. I do not have any personal experience with the CRM modules though.

All of this is free, so I guess if you are prepared to invest some time, it will not cost you anything to find out whether it will suffice for your needs.

Note that CiviCRM seems to have a few dozen add-on modules as well to further extend the CRM system...

I set up Sugar CRM for a company I used to work for here in Beijing and they have been using it for the past couple of years to manage literally thousands of clients.
