I want to install a clean copy of Windows 7 on my Dell 1558 laptop (bought recently).

How can I request an installation disk from Dell?

well, the Dell Site might be a good place to start fro you, although If they did they would charge you for it and it would be a restore disk and NOT a upgrade/clean install version.

Why can't you go and buy it?

Well, $236 (US) is the current price for a full win7 pro at amazon.com. That may be cost prohibitive for the OP. Besides the OP already has a license to run win7 on this machine why pay twice? – rschuler May 13 '10 at 14:02
Well, he's more than welcome to contact Dell but I think he may be dissapointed in thinking hes' going to get a free copy of windows 7. – tombull89 May 13 '10 at 14:10
