It seems that sometime recently (a few weeks maybe?) Google Reader decided to make it so that when your read an item it deletes it from the feed instead of just leaving it there like it used to.

This is driving me crazy since some of my feeds I have for reference (for example my delicious.com feed) and never want any of the entries deleted. It's enough of a problem for me that I'm willing to switch readers at t his point if there is no workaround.

Anyone know a way to make Google Reader not delete read items?

Thanks!

Are you sure it's deleting them, or do you just have it set to view unread items? Make sure you have it set to view all items, not just the ones you haven't read yet.

If this just started happening recently, it's likely that the cookie which held your view settings had expired (or you cleared your cookies), so it went back to the default view, which is to only show unread items.

You are right, I have it set to unread items and now that I think about it I cleared all of my browser cookies last week and that's when it started happening. Very nice catch, thank you! – Teebes Jul 28 '09 at 17:17
