We are a small group of people drinking a special brewed beer every week, but we need a rating system for it. Until now we have been using a simple spread sheet, but that's not user friendly and its not online, which would be a great feature.

So is there any of such system available to download ?

Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

So...does everyone in this small group want to access the same document, from the internet, at the same time? – OmidTahouri May 29 '10 at 23:34

Expanding off of HelloWorld's suggestion, use Google Docs if you trust your companions not to mess up the intricate design of the spreadsheet. Much simpler than WordPress plugins. – Christian Mann May 29 '10 at 23:43
@Christian Mann: That's exactly what I was planning on stating :) ...and now have. – OmidTahouri May 29 '10 at 23:50
Yeah, well I'm a software architect; I'm obligated to post the most Byzantine solution possible ;) I was going to edit my post to suggest Docs, but I figured I'd let you do so. – Christian Mann May 29 '10 at 23:58
website questions are offtopic on Super User. there's a proposed web-app-specific Stack Exchange site that this would be appropriate on, but it is not available at present. – quack quixote May 30 '10 at 0:42

Questions on Super User are expected to generally relate to computer software or computer hardware, within the scope defined in the faq.

I come with a link!

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rate-anything/ is a Wordpress (if that's an option) plugin that allows you to set up anything to rate, not just beers. I'm not sure of the specifics; I just found it.

There are a lot of sites that allow you to rate things, but they don't seem to have the ability to separate ratings by group of people (as you'd probably want to do; you don't want someone in Timbuktu influencing your beer decision)

Tell me how it works out for you.

Its a rather old plugin for wordpress, so the spread sheet could be a better option. The rating is also composed from different things. – Syska May 31 '10 at 10:45

A simple approach would be to go for Google Docs. Enables you to view and edit a spreadsheet online.

You can then give permission to those who wish to edit the spreadsheet. If you're lucky and the current spreadsheet you use isn't too complex, you may be able to upload it to Google Docs and start using it straight away.

Example (because I'm bored)

Yes, this is too simple since we rate them in 4 categories. Guess I will have to make a site myself, hoped I could have avoided this. – Syska May 31 '10 at 10:50
I'm aware that it's far too late, but depending on your excel-fu you could have probably made a spreadsheet that was useful for this. Website is probably simpler though. – Christian Mann Nov 15 '10 at 23:02
