I get jaded listening to the same songs over and over again, is there way to make my iPod/iPhone play in LRU order?

Make a smart playlist in iTunes. Set it up like so:

Sync it to your iPod or iPhone. That should do the trick. (I used an arbitrarily high number of songs, so it would contain my entire library. Adjust accordingly.)

This playlist will contain the Library's n least recently played songs, ordered by artist. You probably want to sort the playlist by Last Played in order to actually queue songs in LRU order. – jtb Jul 29 '09 at 1:55
When I created it, it was already sorted by LRP. Any unplayed songs will always be at the top of the playlist, sorted by artist, but there's not much you can do about it except filter them out by setting the "last played" rule "is after" an arbitrary date in the past. – Guillermo Esteves Jul 29 '09 at 2:07
Yeah, you're right. Turns out that when I tested this I just modified an existing smart playlist that was already sorted by artist and it preserved that ordering with the new constraint (rightly so). +1 – jtb Jul 29 '09 at 2:13
