which format is your source music in?? ie is it .wav .mp3 or what?? – CVS-2600Hertz-wordpress-com Jun 10 '10 at 9:19
Note that "audio -> MIDI" is not like ".wav -> .mp3" but rather more like voice recognition. – Colin Pickard Jun 10 '10 at 9:27
I fear you won't find a library for audio to midi. On the other hand, if you just want to create midi sequences playing a guitar, you can buy an hexaphonic pickup or a guitar-like midi controller. I'm rather happy with the Yamaha EZ-AG (hard to find in shops now, I bought it on Ebay for 80€) – Remo.D Jun 10 '10 at 17:26
Thanks for the related question Colin. I know how midi work, what I precisely want is to extract rhytm and notes from a recorded single instrument (with a mic or pluged in a line in). (And I need a software only solution, beside the mic). Anyway, thank you all for youre help (and sorry for my bad english ...) – Katoss Jun 11 '10 at 12:56

Sorry for the "answer". As far as I know (from how Midi "is"), it's pretty impossible to convert it. I tried out a lot of commercial softwares back then to convert them into midi (mp3 for example), but all of them failed. It is quite impossible to do it right. The easiest/best is when a person creates the midi file.

(In a nutshell: It is impossible to convert it ! as far as I know !. Don't burn me if you know a way, then write an answer. =))
