What's the easiest way to sync a clipboard between multiple computers? I would prefer a cross-platform solution but anything is better then nothing.

I do want to be on a different network and still be able to sync.

I am not looking for something like:

  • Dropbox (unless it uses the Dropbox API)
  • Evernote
  • Onenote
  • Tomboy

If your looking to autosync the clipboard of your android devices with Windows, there is this application. Still in Beta, but does the job: http://bdwm.be/cs/

LAN only doesn't meet your requirements - but others might be interested: Simidude. I'm trying it out now and it seems to cut the mustard. It is paid software, but offers a free trial.

Simidude is a cross platform network clipboard that makes it easy to transfer text, images, files or folders from one computer to another.

Seconded. This is pay software, and I'm on my first day of a 30 day trial now thanks to Wojciech's post, but it's definitely good stuff. My use case is this: Several VirtualBox machines running various OSes and a host Ubuntu that used to be running Parcelite or any other clipboard history tool. The VirtualBox clipboard sync function didn't get along with Parcelite, and I'd constantly end up with null clipboards in the guest machines. I got rid of Parcelite and turn off VirtualBox's clipboard sync, and after installing Simidude everywhere and it's all working great now. – Brendan Kidwell Mar 17 '11 at 22:57

There are a number of products for Windows only. Cross-platform I only know of two, neither of which is perfect:

  • Synergy offers the feature as part of a more comprehensive package for using multiple computers from one.

  • Copy and Paste allows text sync, but is an add-on for Firefox.

It would be a shame to use an intermediate server. Do you have a specific use-case in mind? What are you thinking of sharing? (Eg. only text, text and pictures, anything and everything.) – Andy Jun 15 '10 at 17:11
I already have dropbox installed...and I do wan't to be able to be on different networks to sync...I forgot to mention that – mjrider Jun 15 '10 at 18:27
Synergy works perfect for this although I have not tried it with anything remote. – Chris Oct 6 '10 at 11:47

I just launched ClipboardSync, an app that does whats required. It has a simple setup - install once and forget.
