Apologies for the confusing title.

I would like to know what technologies are availible for a consumer to purchase and use in order to read digital content in terms of Web browsing, e-books etc.

Context:
Software engineer with alot of online reading to do and monitors seems to be quite harsh on the eyes for prolonged periods of time.

Example solutions:
E-ink e-book readers - issue is that they rarely allow websites.
pixel qi screen?

Ideal solution:
Tablet with soft e-ink style reading which can act as second monitor over wifi (maybe controlled via synergy kvm) and as a standalone tablet (hey I did say this was an ideal solution)

Thanks

Alec

This question is more suited for the (hopefully) upcoming gadget site, unless you're planning to use a tablet/netbook. Therefore it's off-topic – Ivo Flipse Jun 24 '10 at 12:16
The intension was to use a tablet yes, hence the tablet in the tags. I don’t consider it off topic as I am looking more for a list of applicable hardware that facilities easy long term reading such as e-ink. One this list of alternative display types is compiled then I can consider building or purchasing a tablet. Would it be possible to reopen this as Im not after a gadget, more A list of display technologies that are like e-ink in as much as they do not strain the eyes – Alec Jun 24 '10 at 12:50
