I am looking for a good online calculator, somewhat similar to what was asked for in this question, only I want it to be a web-application. I work on different computers with different platforms, and a web-application is as portable as it gets. Apart from all the usual functions (logarithms, trigonometric functions and so forth) I would like to be able to define variables and maybe plot functions.

I'd really appreciate an explanation for the downvotes. – Björn Pollex Jun 24 '10 at 11:44
Sorry but web applications aren't allowed on Super User, which is actually a mistake from the guys over at Stack Overflow for even migrating it. However, Wolfram Alpha, as one of the answers suggests is really a great tool for your purpose – Ivo Flipse Jun 24 '10 at 11:48

As one of the answers to the question you linked to pointed out, Google does a lot of scientific calculations. http://www.googleguide.com/calculator.html
