My company is using Windows Server 2003(VMWare Server) and started to use vm for the servers. The problem is we use a per processor licensing of our distribution(to distribute applications and update so we don't have to manually install applications) application. The problem is the company has a license per server for three processors. So with the dynamic allocation of the processors the license keeps failing. I don't know if there is a way to set a static processor count per server and if those same processors would be used for the same server. I have read that all the physical processors need to be licensed but I'm not sure how to do this because we seem to be allocating licenses per server not per processor. I don't know that much about virtual machines and how the hardware and software work together so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nobody can tell you how to configure your virtual machine software if you don't tell us what software you are using, i.e. VMWare Server, VirtualBox, VMWare ESX, etc. – Puddingfox Jun 30 '10 at 17:49
It is VMWare Server. Thanks – Bruce227 Jul 9 '10 at 14:31
