Preview (built-in) will handle PDF's the best in my opinion.

How do you change page in preview? Oops I thought you meant the previw that pops up when you hit space. Preview seems to do the job. – sepang Jul 1 '10 at 17:12
Change page? Scroll down? – Vervious Jul 1 '10 at 17:14
It's not very convenient to scroll down when you are reading a book or a longer user manual or whatever... – sepang Jul 1 '10 at 17:16
You can use the right and left arrow – radius Jul 1 '10 at 17:42

"the previw that pops up when you hit space" is called Quick View. Preview is the app that opens if you double-click on a PDF file. You can also scroll down with the spacebar, the mouse scroll wheel, or two-finger drag on the touchpad or magic-mouse. – JRobert Jul 1 '10 at 18:19

I use Skim to read PDF and suggest you to try it

I like the fullscreen mode - best suggestion yest! – sepang Jul 1 '10 at 20:05
For the record, while Preview results in a memory leak[ I killed it when it reached 2gb] with a 90mb pdf file, Skim just allocated 150mb of memory. Great! – Comptrol Jul 28 '11 at 18:22

Very subjective question. Preview that comes with mac os x is really enough for me for just reading PDF.

I love people that down vote without adding comment... – radius Jul 1 '10 at 17:03

They are not strictly readers but I use either Mendeley Desktop or Papers for reading PDF's. Keeping them nice and organised so that I can come back a find them again is a key feature in my opinion.
