I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have the most recent firefox updates, active x, and everything I need to run firefox, but it crashes on me almost every hour for no reason. I have tried to disable all my plugins, but that hasn't done anything, nor do I have any malware on my computer.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have the newest versions of everything. It just crashes randomly every hour for no reason. This has been happening for the last 2-3 weeks or so.

Can you list the plugins that show up when you type about:plugins in the location bar? – arathorn Jul 30 '09 at 20:15

Firefox doesn't use ActiveX. ;) – Sasha Chedygov Aug 2 '09 at 2:23

I'd say to delete your profile directory, or move it temporarily and then start Firefox. I've had strange crashes and odd behavior in firefox that was fixed with using a fresh profile. You could export your bookmarks and there is an addon to export all your saved passwords and whatnot if there are things you don't want to lose. My money is on a wonky profile though.

Firefox Fiasco

Its a long post

Since 2-3 Days both versions of firefox on my computer are not working properly.
Firefox 3.5.1 freezes many a times and has driven me mad. Now i m using chrome till they solve the issue.

I dont think the problem is caused by plugins or extensions. Firefox 3.5.1 is not very stable. I have a set of extensions i am using since 6 months and still it crashes. Sometimes it refuses to even load up. I have to restart my computer

EDIT:I think you should try deleting history

Make sure you've got the latest of Adobe Flash installed. It's a very common cause of browser crashes and upgrading to the latest version might help.

@Rishi: I wouldn't say it isn't stable. I have not yet had a stability problem with Firefox 3.5 since upgrading. – Sasha Chedygov Aug 2 '09 at 4:26

As other posters have said, if you are running Firefox 3.5.1, consider downgrading back to 3.0.(12?)

If you still have issues, ensure that all your plugins and add-ons are disabled.

Still having problems? Grab a bootable CD from memtest and let it run for an hour or so on your pc. Crashing is often a sign of RAM going bad.
