I know that Exchange by Touchdown provides premium access to Exchange/Outlook, but I am looking for a free alternative. K9 seems to have some Exchange fields but I can't seem to get it to connect to my work's exchange servers.

Maybe looking at asking this on ServerFault as well. Potentially some sysadmins would have had to deal with this. –  Diago Jul 30 '09 at 20:27

this seems really close... its a bit scary downloading something from an unknown (to me) site. But I did and it seems to try to work but it tells me it can't create the account and to try again later. (tried twice so far) –  Jeff Martin Jul 31 '09 at 15:57

I downloaded with great skepticism as well, though for me it is working like a charm. I believe this only supports the ActiveSync protocol though, so older exchange servers might not be supported. Not sure. –  Goyuix Aug 9 '09 at 14:35

If you're willing: root it and load an experimental ROM. The experimental ROM linked below natively supports Exchange ActiveSync. It also runs MUCH faster than the official ROMs. Keep in mind there are risks involved with running experimental ROMs.

Or try this. It seems to sync only your mail, not contacts or calendar.

This is the same thing that @MicTech recommended, just another site –  Jeff Martin Aug 3 '09 at 22:42
