I used to have a page where users could run a speed test to see how fast their internet connection was. I used net track's java/php one:

http://www.net-track.ch/opensource/speedtest/

It worked just fine until I upgraded to php5, now it freezes all browsers. Do any of you know of an open source speed test I can use in its place?

Probably should be on Stack Overflow. – Hello71 Jul 13 '10 at 1:34

Is this what you're looking for?

This is a client, right? I'm looking for something I can put on a web page, not an exe. – user12832 Jul 12 '10 at 19:52
Sorry, I misunderstood. Not that I'm trying to avoid helping you look for an alternative, but have you contacted Net-Track about the issue? They may be able to fix it relatively quickly (this option might be especially preferable if you like the tool itself). – jrc03c Jul 12 '10 at 19:58
I asked them about it, but in case they don't get back to me I'd like to figure out an alternative. – user12832 Jul 12 '10 at 20:00
From the TPTEST site: "The latest development has been to separate the platform-independent test method software (the test engine) from the platform-dependent user interface software in order to make it easier for anyone to write a test client or server that uses the TPTEST testing method." This sounds to me as though this can be hosted on a web server (in addition to being a client). But I'm also ignorant about this kind of software. :) – jrc03c Jul 12 '10 at 20:15
