Let me explain What exactly I want.

I want to know what functionality do you miss in osx? I have found some of them. Let me just list out.

Following is the list, that I experienced. I am comparing features osx with xp. You can suggest me more. Definitely, I am not going to build a new OS, but at least, By knowing these differences, I can came to know, what functionality do I really miss in osx/xp which are really helpful for our work-performance.

  • Cut & paste
  • move to folder, copy to folder
  • Arrange windows tile horizontally/vertically ( two-up is now no-more, why every-one must learn apple-script for just arrangement of opened screens ? )
  • Map Network drive (in osx mounting to network every time )
  • re-sizing windows from all corners ( osx forces you to re-size from only right-bottom corner)
  • Customization

Edit :

  • Restoring specific items from to as it was earlier.
  • Deleting specific items from Trash/recycle bin.

Edit : I have explained what exactly I miss in osx. Weather it is about finder? I am asking the features that you lack.

What are your experience ? Let me know. If I am wrong some-where,let me know.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience in advance. Sugar.

What are your problems with "cut & paste", "move to folder", and "copy to folder"? – waiwai933 Jul 15 '10 at 5:10
Are you asking about OS X or are you asking about Finder? – Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Jul 15 '10 at 5:11

At the very least, make poll questions Community Wiki. But this is way too subjective, imho. – Joey Jul 15 '10 at 5:29
@Johannes Rossel - I want to know both pros & cons of windows & osx by the view of End-User. – Spark Jul 15 '10 at 5:31
I need at least comments for close votes. – Spark Jul 15 '10 at 5:36

I miss being able to hold down a modifier key (in my case Alt) to be able to click anywhere in a window to move it. True, I also miss that in Windows, but I probably use OS X more than I use Windows.

Missing Functionality

  • In osx, open a finder window, jump to music folder. Obviously, you might prefer to view music by detailed view. You might switch to detailed view. Now, when you jump to any other folder - each would be in detailed view.

In short, applying view-type to specific folder/directory isn't available.

( Please add comment, if I am wrong here. I am not yet sure. ) Leading Function/Feature.

- Expose Desktop & multiple desktop
- Easy way to navigate from one desktop to other desktop.

Windows lacking these features.

Leading Function / Feature.

- Press Ctrl + Scroll Up or down to zoom screen any where in osx.

Leading Function/Feature.
