Now I transfer files across my LAN all of the time. I had this one issue a couple of days ago where all of the files within the folder I wanted to copy had lock symbols on them.

Now this file lets say "MyFile" came from "Computer A" about three weeks before.

Then on "Computer B" created it as its own shared folder.

Tried copying it off "Computer B" with "Computer C" with "you need administrative privelages to do this" Tried copying from "Computer B" onto "Computer C" shared area. "You need admin priv". Now I solved this by copying the file locally on "Computer B" to a different location and recreating the share and everything went fine.

Note that the file was always located in the Documents area and all PC are win 7 Also all computers are Administrative accounts only and everyone had read/write/full access to all network locations.

So I am curious what would cause these "lock symbols" to appear and enforce these privileges?

Note that I also disable the "use the network sharing wizard" – Marrowmaw Jul 22 '10 at 1:06
I know they are folder set to contain Administrative content / access only but why would that stop me from copying them if I am the Administrator on both PC's? – Marrowmaw Aug 10 '10 at 1:30
