I've recently decided to take advantage of the fact that the PS3 can be used to stream movies by making my PC a media server. I've done this in the past with the same router I have now before I sold my old PS3, but not on this PC. I've tried using both Tversity and PS3 Media server, but the problem doesn't lie within the configuration of either of those programs because I am unable to ping my PS3.

This problem only occurs when I am using a wired connection on my PC, attempting to connect to a WLAN connection on the PS3. If I switch to WLAN on my PC I can successfully ping the PS3 and connect the media server.

We'll need more information about your network architecture. What routers/access points do you have, how are they connected, where are the endpoints connected, etc. – Brian Knoblauch Jul 26 '10 at 18:41

Also, what are the network settings, in matter of gateway and DHCP. It's possible that ips are on different networks for wireless and wired, and that could cause you to not see eachother on it. Like Brian said, we need more details about all that. – Gnoupi Jul 26 '10 at 18:51
