Please can you add more details. Country / Purpose / Requirements / Platform? – Diago Aug 1 '09 at 16:57
Of course, the country I would prefer the VPN server to be in is the UK, purpose is to encrypt all data from my iPhone to the VPN server, so this leads me on to requirements being encryption and being in the UK and the platform being the iPhone. – Alexis Hirst Aug 1 '09 at 22:18

Personally I love Hamachi, since it also works on Linux (at least 32-bit). This way, I can setup an SSH tunnel for a SOCKS proxy, and browse from work over an encrypted tunnel.

Lifehacker has a good (but old) guide to setting it up.

Hamachi is good and free for personal use. secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/licensing.asp – stukelly Aug 4 '09 at 18:14
Hamachi is great, unfortunately it didn't quite fulfil my requirements. – Alexis Hirst Sep 13 '09 at 16:51

Nice, though nowadays: FREE accounts are disconnected every 20 minutes. You can't have it all, I guess. – Arjan Jun 6 '10 at 15:31
