Eclipse was mentioned in a similar post, but it is too heavy for my requirements. I am willing to try out a wine option, but then I would need detailed instructions.

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and upgrading is out of question, sorry.

EDIT: I want something like this for xsd under Linux.

enter image description here

The idea is - I should be able to tweak a .Xsd file without having to worry about changing the wrong part of it. For instance, where do I add minOccurs and maxOccurs? With a good editor, I would not have to ask such question.

The xsd files get pretty large, so editing them by hand is error-prone.

What about the first hit with Google? XML Fox is free and seems small: http://www.xmlfox.com/

(edit) Ah, Linux. Sorry. OxygenXML is not free, but worth its price, they are excellent and provide excellent support (yes, I use it too) and work on Linux. Hmm, can't find what you're looking for, but remember that Eclipse can be fairly slimmed down to a minimum if 100MB is really your maximum, you should be able to get there somehow.

Emacs? Vi(m)? Easily available on ubuntu - you probably already have at least one of them.

@cristobalito, I do have Emacs installed. I also have generated some .xsd schemas that I wish to tweak. Now, I want a specialized editor for xsd schema so that I will be able to change only the stuff that I can. I prefer to get the task done without having to learn more than necessary about xsd format/language. Does emacs have such a mode? Somehow I doubt it ... – Fantomas Aug 1 '10 at 21:02
