Probably the best Core i7 laptop is the Apple MacBook Pro - either the 15" or 17": http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook_pro

The beauty here is that you can develop for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux on the same machine (using VMware Fusion for Windows and Linux).

Check with your local Apple dealer for pricing in your region.

@muhammad adnan Your chance of finding a decent i7 extreme laptop for < $1000 is very slim. You'll be making a lot of sacrifices elsewhere (small, slow HDD, crappy screen, crappy build quality and more) to get that low since high end mobile I7's are pushing the $400 mark. That's not a whole lot left for other stuff. – Trezoid Feb 26 '11 at 9:31
