I have the meta tag name="robots" content="noarchive stuff in the blog HTML code which prevents search engines from storing the page, they only index it. Is there a way to do something similar in case of web-based RSS readers like Google Reader?

Something like they read the feed and show the items for the subscribers, but the entries expire after, say, 2 weeks and they don't show up in Google Reader archive search anymore (Reader and similar services normally stores old items). Is it possible?

Short answer: No. Once they "read" your entries, they can do what they want with them.

+1 - Once it's on the internet, you can never hide it again! – JNK Aug 11 '10 at 20:44
Google usually gives control to the user. Can't there be a meta tag similar to noarchive which controls expiration of RSS items? – Tom Aug 11 '10 at 20:50

@Tom - I'm sure it's possible, but it would never be implemented in most readers. There's not really a demand from USERS to have things disappear without them knowing. There may be a demand from POSTERS but the reader developers don't care as much about them :) – JNK Aug 11 '10 at 21:52
Yeah..why would you want to do this? I understand if serving old posts is a strain but as a READER I want to be able to dig back as far as I want. – Shinrai Aug 11 '10 at 22:25
