Can anyone recommend a good (and ideally free) Registry Search & Replace tool? There seems to be a lot of utilities that searches the registry, but not very many that does the replacing. I've found some really old ones (from the late 90s to 2007). I was hoping for newer ones or ones still maintained. I did run across RegReplacer, but that one doesn't seem to work very well (It only found 2 instances of a string where NirSoft's RegScanner caught 449).

I'll just re-suggest RegScanner by Nirsoft, as suggested by RHPT, because even though it has no edit/massedit capabilities whatsoever, it can export to a
Not as straightforward as a direct "mass edit" from a tool, but it works.
I'm currently using Registry Toolkit from Funduc Software. You can download a 50-use trial; after that it's $25 to register. I've been trying to find a good free registry search & replace but this is the closest I've found. It's reasonably fast and does what I need.
The Registry Find and Replace tool allows you to find and replace data from the registry. The degree of flexibility and safety of use will make this tool invaluable to you.
The feature is especially useful when fixing the registry after a changed hard drive letter. For example, you have purchased a new hard drive and you have moved your C:\Programs directory to D:\Programs. Of course, none of the programs actually work since the registry still contains the old path at C:\ drive. Fixing the program with the Registry Find and Replace takes only a few clicks: search for "C:\Programs" and replace it with "D:\Programs".
Why this feature stands apart compared with its competitors

RegEditX (Registry Editor Extensions) is freeware that enhances the Windows Registry Editor. If you edit the same keys repeatedly, this is for you! New buttons activate frequently used commands, and a combo box stores a history of visited keys and allows quick navigation back to them.
The keys are saved across sessions and available the next time you use the Registry Editor.

An enhanced registry editor, which can do a lot of neat stuff that the Windows Regedit can't.
OPEN SOURCE (great search, but no replace option, sorry...)
Check out these features:
Efficient interface: On some platforms, Reg is faster than RegEdit.
Bookmarks: More recent versions of RegEdit implement Favorites, but Reg uses a more convenient bookmark box attached to the main window. Of course, Reg also works on older versions of Windows, where RegEdit has no Favorites featuers.
Background search: Searches are conducted in the background, allowing the user to continue working with the registry.
Regular expression search: Weed out those pesky, hard-to-find registry keys using a regular expression search.
Partial search: Limit search scope to only a sub-tree of the registry. Great for searching, for example, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE!
Search results: Search hits are collected in a pane on the main window, Allowing user to get an overview of the search hits, scan the list, jump back and forth between hits, etc. Tired of stepping through a registry search? This is the feature for you!
Multi-delete from search results: Registry need a cleaning? Do a search and then delete en masse from the results.
Export and import: Can export standard version 4 registry files, and import version 4 and 5 registry files. (Unicode not supported for v5 files).
Full Windows XP Visual Style support.
