I know asking this question is pretty weird but i really want to know what are the basic differences between this two operating systems (Technical, Architectural, Usability). I have used both the operating systems to some extent and i could find Linux is more stable than windows though not as user friendly as windows. Any answer or reference to this question is highly appreciated.

Thank you,
Rupesh

I think You have just started World War 3 ;-) and this question is not going to survive SO or SU. – Shoban Aug 13 '10 at 5:00

This is a wide topic. You could find zillions of posts/discussion. Google it rather! – bdhar Aug 13 '10 at 5:00

This is a REALLY wide topic. I don't think this can be answered on SU. – lajuette Aug 13 '10 at 5:27

Also voted to close. This question can't be answered easily, Linux and Windows are fundamentally different. I even think there are whole books about it, and they'd still won't cover everything. Also what are the strong point of both operating systems can't be answered within the scope of SU, because it is absolutely subjective. I think the greatest think about Linux is the Shell and I prefer it over GUI apps...but many people disagree with me. Maybe this is better suited for a real discussion board? – Bobby Aug 13 '10 at 6:38

What about if this was a wiki and people could just contribute one or two points may be, as there wouldn't be any 1 correct/complete post? – w3d Aug 13 '10 at 8:37
