When using Notepad, I'm unable to save my document. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Does this only happen in Notepad or also in Word? With that I mean: does it notify you that the disk is full or some other error message? – Ivo Flipse Aug 14 '10 at 18:01

Does this happen with any document or just one? What steps are you using to save? What folder are you trying to save to? If you try to exit Notepad, does it tell you your changes have not been saved? What file name are you trying to use? – boot13 Aug 14 '10 at 18:21

Can you be any more vague? How would you expect someone in person to help you with such a problem? We need more information. Perhaps you can start by telling us why you think you can't save your document. – Rafael Rivera Aug 14 '10 at 23:56
Try this in Windows 7 - Windows 7 simply does not "tell" you anything - no error message. NOTHING. Asker could have been clearer in asking though. See superuser.com/questions/197600/…. Try it. – Zabba Oct 9 '10 at 6:39

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. See the FAQ for guidance on how to improve it.

Make sure your account has write permission and your windows is original.

If you are trying to open a file over the network, make sure you have write access to the remote directory. If it is a local file, try running Notepad with Administrator privileges (right-click and choose Run as administrator). Then try to edit and save your file.
