I have a wiki about chemistry and I am looking for a MediaWiki extension to parse simplified molecular input line entry specification (SMILES). Is there such an extension available? Thanks. Oh, I want the output to be either PNG or GIF, not an applet or Flash-thing. I will downvote any answers about smileys!

Perhaps you can use TwirlyMol. It is a JavaScript-based solution, so you should be able to just load it from your MediaWiki template without having to make a MediaWiki plugin. TwirlyMol is apparently being used on the ChemPrime wiki and an educational site, but I'm not able to load either right now to verify.
