Most people say the "Z" shell. Pronounce it "Zee shell."

Given you have not received the most votes it seems that "Most people" disagree with you. –  Gerry Jul 10 '12 at 0:47
@Gerry Whatever, I'm not going to argue over a two year old answer. –  Josh K Jul 10 '12 at 18:58

Somehow, there's always a relevant xkcd. –  Jorum Nov 12 '13 at 14:37

It is "Z"-shell, so use whatever your local pronunciation of "Z" is. In most English dialects, "Z" is actually pronounced "Zed", except in American English, where it is pronounced "Zee". Citation.

I'm English and still say Zee-shell. It flows off the tongue more easily than the Zed variant. –  Charles Roper Apr 20 '12 at 15:45

Am I an idiot for saying zash? rhymes with bash and dash.

Well, I wouldn't say it in public. –  Oliver Salzburg Jun 4 '12 at 21:27
Am I the only one who pronounces it zeesh? –  Blacklight Shining Oct 6 '12 at 6:44
I've always heard it as 'zish' (like 'wish' or 'fish'). –  Rafi Jacoby Oct 9 '13 at 16:40
