From time to time stories about controlling a mouse cursor directly with your mind pop up. I even remember a year or two ago on some game expo a device was demonstrated that allows you to control games by mind power. There was a plenty of buzz and it looked like it is almost production ready, but then nobody ever heard about it ever since.

What happens to all these technologies? Is it all just yellow stories to get money from investors? Is it really possible to move mouse cursor to precise position by power of mind today? Are there any real devices already available?

These things are never "almost production ready" - they are carefully staged events where a limited number of features are demonstrated, and then the videos are carefully edited before being shown to the world. A famous one is Sony's humanoid robot, which can do a very small number of things, but do them very well. It is confounded by stairs, doorways, animals, falls over all time time and because it weights > 1 tonne, can't get up on its own. But it looks shit hot on youtube! – Mark Henderson Aug 26 '10 at 21:33
It's impossible to objectively answer this question; questions of this type are too open ended and usually lead to confrontation and argument. Voting to close. – BloodPhilia Aug 26 '10 at 21:58
@Farseeker - Your comment is good enough to be an answer. – Nifle Aug 26 '10 at 21:59
