Windows XP Media Center Addition (SP3)

Hi Guys,

Quite recently, when I've tried to browse sub-directories on one of my hard drives, windows explorer will just hang indefinitely and consume 99% of cpu. Any ideas why?

I was thinking that the hard drive could be bad but SMART tests say it's healthy.

Have you changed anything recently? Either in the hardware or software. Have you added a large number of files or any large files to these folders? – ChrisF Sep 6 '10 at 19:06

So this only happens with certain folders? Is there anything special about these folders? – boot13 Sep 6 '10 at 19:07
@chrisF I moved about 300 GB of movies to the drive experiencing the hang. Do you think the indexing is off? I ran a defragment check and it said the drive didn't need it. – Mike B Sep 19 '10 at 8:59
@boot13 Doesn't occur with specific folders... just want directory on this drive. – Mike B Sep 19 '10 at 8:59
