I reinstalled Windows 7 a while ago and I set the Windows Backup location to the same directory on the external drive that I used before. But now I realize that I need some files from that previous installation.

If I open an Administrator level command prompt I can CD into the backup directory and I see the old data files.

However, the Restore files dialogs only show backup entries back to the date when I reinstalled Windows 7.

Anyone know how to get at the data in those older backup sets?

Are you trying to restore the old windows folder or some other data. Have you tried any 3rd party recovery tools – subanki Sep 9 '10 at 6:34
@subanki: No, silly old stuff. I'd like my Mass Effect save games back. – Zan Lynx Sep 10 '10 at 19:11
you could download a mass effect saved game profile, just google – subanki Sep 10 '10 at 19:30
@subanki: Well yes I suppose I could. There might be other stuff in that backup and I'd still like to know how to get at it. I know the data is in there, it's just the catalog or something is missing. – Zan Lynx Sep 11 '10 at 22:23
