I've tried many ways found on net but still no luck. That was a bug ticket when Virtualbox didn't support usb2.0. But it should have been fixed by now.

Sometimes my webcam is turned on all the time but can't see any video when testing with ekiga.

I'm trying to run FaceL, pyvision on my ubuntu. Have set up everything but stuck at this web cam issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Just to clarify... does your webcam work with Lucid on a PHYSICAL machine? In other words, is this issue reasonably well isolated to be a VM problem? Can you test it with something simpler, say for instance "cheese"? This MIGHT at least clear up the hardware compatibility question. You say "Sometimes..." which leads me to ask what about the "othertimes"? Are you saying it works sometimes? – hotei Sep 17 '10 at 14:59
Hi.. thanks for the comment. I don't have a physical Lucid box. I'm running Vista64 as my host. And it works on my Windows host. Cheese just said No Device Found with a black screen. What I mean by sometimes it turns on was that the web cam power is turned on, but cannot detect from Lucid. I don't know what makes such sometimes. – astk Sep 20 '10 at 3:47
So I think it's VirtualBox office. Now I'm testing on VMWare player and it works. So I've to use VMWare player if I can't get my webcam working with VBox. Thanks. – astk Sep 20 '10 at 3:47
